Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development. You have spent at least 3 years in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects, and 2 years in a people management position. Your experience includes working with embedded operating systems, and you possess strong skills in Embedded Systems, Firmware, People Management, Resource Management, Servers, Vendor Management, C, C++, Kernel Programming, Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, and PCI Express. A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred, along with experience in a complex, matrixed organization.

You thrive in environments that require technical leadership and are adept at managing teams. You understand the importance of optimizing not just your own code but also ensuring that your engineers can optimize theirs. You are comfortable with the challenges of managing project goals while contributing to product strategy and team development.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Manager at Google, you will lead a team of engineers in the Server Software domain, focusing on platforms infrastructure engineering. You will design, guide, and vet systems designs while writing product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems. Your role will involve reviewing code developed by other engineers and providing feedback to ensure adherence to best practices, including style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency. You will also be responsible for managing project goals and contributing to the broader product strategy, ensuring that your team is aligned with the company's ambitions.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the company, working on diverse projects that span information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, and more. Your leadership will be crucial in shaping the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs. You will also engage in vendor management and resource allocation to optimize team performance and project outcomes.
