Job Description
Who you are
You have an Associate's degree or trade school certification in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience in Mechanical/HVAC, you have worked in industrial or commercial environments, particularly in mission-critical settings. You are capable of working non-standard hours and can handle material handling tasks such as lifting and working on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors. Your knowledge of mechanical systems used in data centers, including chillers, air handling units, pumps, and CRAC/CRAH units, sets you apart. You possess strong communication skills, enabling you to effectively interact with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems.
What you'll do
As a Facilities Technician at Google, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical conditions of data center facilities. Your responsibilities will include managing the uptime and maintenance of water pumps and treatment systems, HVAC, and control and monitoring systems. You will regularly assist senior technicians by reading blueprints and schematics, conducting tours of systems, and assessing their working order. You will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new mechanical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure. Your role will also involve responding to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that all systems function optimally to maintain a reliable environment.
