Overview

Google is hiring a Silicon Architecture/Design Engineer to shape the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration. You'll work with technologies like C++, Python, and Verilog to design next-generation TPUs. This position requires a PhD in a relevant field and experience with accelerator architectures.

Job Description

Who you are

You hold a PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field β€” your academic background has equipped you with a strong foundation in silicon architecture and design principles. You have experience with accelerator architectures and data center workloads, which has given you insights into the demands of high-performance computing environments.

Your programming skills are robust, particularly in languages such as C++, Python, and Verilog β€” you are comfortable using these languages to model and analyze complex systems. Familiarity with Synopsys and Cadence tools is part of your toolkit, enabling you to navigate the intricacies of silicon design and verification.

You have a keen understanding of performance modeling tools and knowledge of arithmetic units, bus architectures, accelerators, and memory hierarchies β€” this knowledge allows you to contribute effectively to the design and optimization of cutting-edge hardware. Your grasp of high-performance and low-power design techniques positions you as a valuable asset in the development of next-generation TPUs.

What you'll do

In this role, you will collaborate with hardware and software architects and designers to architect, model, analyze, define, and design next-generation TPUs β€” your contributions will directly impact Google's AI/ML capabilities. You will engage in product definition, design, and implementation, working closely with engineering teams to balance performance, power, features, schedule, and cost.

You will drive accelerated and efficient design verification strategies and implementations, utilizing AI techniques for faster and optimal physical design convergence β€” your work will involve timing, floor planning, power grid, and clock tree design. Investigating, validating, and optimizing DFT, post-silicon test, and debug strategies will also be part of your responsibilities, contributing to the advancement of silicon bring-up and qualification processes.

What we offer

At Google, you will be part of a team that is redefining what’s possible in AI and infrastructure β€” you will empower customers with breakthrough capabilities and insights by delivering AI and infrastructure at unparalleled scale, efficiency, reliability, and velocity. You will have the opportunity to work on projects that impact billions of users worldwide, making a significant contribution to the future of technology.

We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement β€” your curiosity and willingness to learn are just as important as your technical skills. Join us in shaping the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration and be part of a culture that values innovation and collaboration.
