Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) and SMT processes. Your background includes leading design for manufacturability and hardware manufacturing, demonstrating a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles. You excel in developing relationships with contract manufacturers and possess excellent investigative, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Your preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, and you have experience with statistical product quality control, process capability, failure analysis, and process improvement. You are familiar with product data management systems such as Agile and Windchill, as well as 3D CAD modeling tools like SolidWorks or Pro Engineer. Your knowledge of IPC Workmanship Standards and ISO 9000 further enhances your qualifications for this role.

What you'll do

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Google, you will evaluate product designs and create the processes, tools, and procedures necessary for the manufacturing of Google's powerful search technology. You will be responsible for developing and distributing manufacturing documentation in support of product design, configuration, process, and build requirements. This includes documenting items such as bill of materials (BOM), assembly drawings, and manufacturing work instructions.

You will lead efforts in process and production line assembly development, ensuring that manufacturing capabilities are aligned with Google's high standards. Your role will involve building up contract manufacturer capabilities in SMT, process, test, root cause analysis, and communications. You will also be expected to provide technical influence and DFX that benefit manufacturability, ensuring that all processes are efficient and effective.
