You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an IT-related field, or equivalent practical experience. With 3 years of experience in systems automation and technical infrastructure, you understand deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You have a solid background in software engineering within a cloud or infrastructure environment, and you are knowledgeable about building and operating compute infrastructure. Your problem-solving and investigative skills are excellent, allowing you to creatively automate mundane tasks and reduce toil.

You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet customer needs. You are comfortable with both on-premises and hybrid products, and you have a strong understanding of cloud platforms and architectural considerations. Your experience has equipped you with the ability to manage services and systems at scale, focusing on observability and operational efficiency.

What you'll do

As a Systems Development Engineer at Google, you will manage services and systems at scale, emphasizing the development of tools and solutions that address classes of problems. You will work on automating processes and improving operational efficiency, ensuring that Google systems, services, and virtual compute environments operate reliably and perform at a high level. You will collaborate with Program Managers, Technical Program Managers, and Support teams to ensure timely delivery of new product initiatives. Your role will involve instrumenting systems for observability, turning data into actionable knowledge, and supporting the team in maintaining and enhancing product and operational excellence.
