Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field, along with 5 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts and mechanical assemblies. Your expertise includes using computer-aided design (CAD) tools like 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or SolidWorks, and you have a solid understanding of the technologies used in consumer products, including plastic injection molding and sheet metal fabrication.

With 8 years of work experience in consumer product design, you have a proven track record of shipping multiple consumer products in a lead or engineering role. Your knowledge extends to the design of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and flexes, and you are familiar with the smartphone product category and its competitive landscape. You are passionate about advocating for new technology and materials that enhance product layouts and user experiences.

What you'll do

As a Senior Product Design Engineer at Google, you will be responsible for designing prototype options that converge on optimal implementations for new products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop advanced designs, materials, and manufacturing techniques for Pixel devices. Your role will involve generating excitement around solving complex technical problems and communicating key updates to leadership to build consensus on the best paths forward.

You will lay the groundwork for future Pixel products, ensuring that your designs integrate seamlessly with Google's artificial intelligence capabilities to create transformative user experiences. Your responsibilities will include advocating for innovative materials and technologies that offer clear benefits to product layouts, as well as mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a culture of design excellence within the Advanced Architecture team.
