Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, along with 8 years of experience working in a hardware systems design and development technical environment. Your background includes at least 5 years of experience in technical leadership, showcasing your ability to guide teams and projects effectively. You possess a deep understanding of enterprise networking system development and production, which allows you to navigate complex technical challenges with ease.

Your expertise in hardware design is complemented by your experience in systems connectivity, including Direct Attach Cable (DAC), Active Copper Cable (ACC), and optics at speeds ranging from 10Gbps to 1.6Tbps. You are passionate about leading the development of networking systems from initial concepts through deployment and field support, ensuring that the solutions you create meet the needs of a diverse range of customers, including Google Cloud clients and billions of users worldwide.

Desirable

A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field is preferred, as it demonstrates a higher level of expertise and commitment to the field. Your ability to work closely with hardware design, mechanical design, thermal design, software, manufacturing, and field support teams will be crucial in delivering high-quality systems that enable the overall data center network.

What you'll do

As a Senior Staff Hardware Engineer, you will lead the development of networking systems, driving products from concept to production. You will gather requirements, define architecture, and execute hardware design and product validation. Collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, product, and deployment teams, you will ensure that the designs you create are not only innovative but also practical and effective in real-world applications.

Your role will involve leading systems bring-up and executing engineering validation in the lab, which is essential for ensuring that the products meet the highest standards of quality and performance. You will be responsible for supporting products in the field, addressing any challenges that arise, and continuously improving the systems based on user feedback and technological advancements.
