Job Description
Who you are
You hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, and have gained experience in signal integrity through internships, academic research, or publications. You are familiar with tools such as Allegro and MATLAB, and have worked with simulation tools like HFSS, Clarity, ADS, and Sigrity. Your understanding of SerDes testing in a lab setting, along with familiarity with Ethernet, PCIE, and DDR standards, sets you apart. You have a solid grasp of SERDES capabilities and FEC implications for system design, and you understand the product development process for mass volume production design, particularly focusing on signal integrity and lab validation. Additionally, you are comfortable using lab measurement tools like Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) and have knowledge of PCB, connector, or cable design and assembly processes, including materials and component selection.
What you'll do
As a Signal Integrity Engineer at Google, you will be responsible for designing and building systems that improve channel performance. You will develop and validate system serial link models for both pre-layout and post-layout signal integrity analysis. Managing system interconnect brings up and qualification will be part of your role, which includes configuring SerDes settings to ensure adequate margin. You will collaborate with vendors of SerDes Physical IP, package, board, connector, and cable to develop new interconnect technologies. Your work will directly contribute to shaping the hardware and software technologies that power Google's services, impacting millions of users worldwide. You will engage in complex computational challenges, enabling custom hardware designed and made in-house. This role offers you the chance to see your designs evolve from concepts to high-volume manufacturing, making a significant impact on the infrastructure that supports Google's operations.
