GrayMatter Robotics is hiring a Lead C++ Architecture Engineer to design and implement robust software architectures for advanced robotic systems. You'll work with C++, Python, and ROS/ROS 2 in Los Angeles. This position requires strong experience in software architecture and robotics.

Who you are
You have a strong background in software architecture with a focus on robotics, having spent several years leading projects that involve designing and implementing complex systems. Your expertise in C++ is complemented by experience with Python, allowing you to develop high-quality tooling and libraries for robotic applications. You are familiar with ROS and ROS 2, and you understand how to integrate various sensors and actuators into robotic systems. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy mentoring junior engineers while driving technical excellence within your team.
You have a proven track record of architecting scalable and testable subsystems, ensuring that your designs are not only functional but also maintainable and efficient. Your experience includes working with hardware integration, where you have developed device drivers and message interfaces that facilitate communication between software and hardware components. You are detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of fault recovery and diagnostics in robotic systems.
Desirable
Experience with industrial robots and automation solutions is a plus, as is familiarity with the manufacturing industry. What you'll do
As a Lead C++ Architecture Engineer at GrayMatter Robotics, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust software architectures that power our advanced robotic systems. You will lead the development of core C++ components and ROS/ROS 2 nodes, ensuring that our software is scalable and efficient. Your role will involve integrating cutting-edge hardware, including sensors and actuators, to create application-specific solutions for our customers.
You will collaborate closely with the Robotics Software Engineering Team to architect high-performance subsystems that meet the demands of automated surface finishing applications. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining device drivers, message interfaces, and health checks to ensure the reliability of our robotic systems. You will also be involved in testing and validating the software to ensure it meets the highest standards of quality and performance.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team. You will participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes. Your insights and leadership will help shape the future of our robotic solutions, making a significant impact on the manufacturing industry.
