You have 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, developing critical backend services in a stable and scalable microservices architecture. You are skilled in building, testing, and deploying applications, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can work closely with Product Managers and Designers to refine feature design and functionality. Your expertise includes optimizing backend systems using tools like Redis and PostgreSQL, and you have a strong understanding of distributed systems and infrastructure engineering. You enjoy mentoring team members through pairing sessions and code reviews, helping to elevate the team's overall performance.

You are passionate about adopting new technologies and architectures, guiding data-driven decisions that enhance the platform's capabilities. Your experience includes maintaining high availability of services and managing incident responses effectively. You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys tackling challenging issues and innovating solutions that drive user engagement and satisfaction.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead projects and other engineers to implement new features that enhance Grindr's backend services. You will coordinate closely with product and design teams to ensure that feature functionality aligns with user needs and business goals. Your responsibilities will include owning the design and development of backend services, optimizing key components of the platform, and leveraging AWS services to ensure scalability and reliability. You will also play a key role in incident management and cost reduction strategies, ensuring that the Grindr platform remains stable and efficient.

You will have the opportunity to innovate by guiding the adoption of new technologies and workflows, contributing to the overall growth of the engineering team. Your role will involve mentoring junior engineers, conducting architecture reviews, and participating in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality. You will collaborate with a kind and capable team, contributing meaningfully to the success of Grindr as it continues to grow its user base.

What we offer

Grindr offers a competitive salary range for this position, with a base pay of $171,000—$201,000 in Chicago and $194,000—$229,000 in the Bay Area. You will also be eligible for equity, benefits, and a company bonus program.
