Who you are
You are a motivated individual with a strong interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning. You have hands-on experience training and experimenting with large language models (LLMs) using frameworks like PyTorch and JAX. Your empirical rigor and passion for open-ended AI questions drive your research pursuits. You are eager to contribute to innovative projects that shape the future of the AI economy.
You possess a foundational understanding of reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF) and evaluation methodologies. Your prior work may include contributions to open-source LLM frameworks or experience with evaluation tooling and data selection methods. You are comfortable with public speaking or teaching, as you may participate in internal reading groups.
What you'll do
As an AI Research Intern at Handshake, you will engage in projects that tackle novel RLHF and GRPO pipelines, focusing on instruction-following refinements and reasoning-trace supervision. You will also work on developing new multilingual, long-horizon, or domain-specific benchmarks for LLM evaluation, conducting studies on automatic versus human preferences, and performing robustness diagnostics.
Your work will directly impact the production stack, allowing you to see your contributions in action. You will collaborate with a team of experts from various backgrounds, including those from leading AI labs and Fortune 500 companies.
