You have a strong background in mechanical engineering with a focus on designing and building complex systems — your experience includes leading teams and managing projects from concept through production. You possess a deep understanding of mechanics, fluids, and thermal dynamics, which allows you to tackle challenging engineering problems effectively. Your ability to communicate technical requirements clearly in a fast-paced environment is one of your key strengths, enabling you to adapt to changing project needs. You are driven by innovation and have a passion for creating novel hardware solutions that push the boundaries of technology. You thrive in interdisciplinary teams and enjoy collaborating with engineers from various backgrounds to achieve common goals. You have experience with design tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, which you use to bring your ideas to life.

Desirable

Experience with hypersonic or aerospace systems is a plus, as is familiarity with working alongside government agencies or defense contractors. A background in rapid prototyping and testing methodologies will also be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As the Lead Component Engineer at Hermeus, you will oversee a team of engineers dedicated to the design and development of flight valves, actuators, and mechanisms. Your role will involve not only leadership but also hands-on technical work, including system requirements scoping and clean sheet design. You will guide your team through the qualification and acceptance testing phases, ensuring that all mechanical systems meet stringent performance and safety standards.
