Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of backend software engineering experience, particularly in building production systems that handle large-scale data processing. Your expertise includes designing and implementing data pipelines or data warehouses, ensuring that you can manage the complexities of data flow and storage effectively.
You possess a strong understanding of AWS technologies, having worked with services like Kinesis, Lambda, and Athena. Your experience with batch and stream processing pipelines allows you to handle trillions of events daily, ensuring that data is delivered efficiently to various products.
Your technical skills extend to databases such as ClickHouse, Postgres, ElasticSearch, Timestream, and Snowflake, enabling you to optimize data storage and retrieval processes. You are comfortable collaborating with frontend engineers, product managers, and UX designers to deliver user-facing features that rely on robust data infrastructure.
You are proactive in monitoring and improving database and pipeline performance, writing unit, integration, and load tests as necessary. Your participation in code reviews and technical proposals reflects your commitment to maintaining high engineering standards and improving tooling and processes within the team.
Desirable
Experience with additional data processing frameworks or tools would be a plus, as would familiarity with data analytics and business intelligence practices. You are someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to contribute to a culture that emphasizes ownership and accountability.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for building and expanding data pipelines and products that support various product lines, including Experimentation, Release observability, Metrics, Product Analytics, and Flag Insights. Your work will directly impact how data is utilized across the organization, enabling teams to make informed decisions based on real-time insights.
You will collaborate closely with frontend engineers to ensure that user-facing features are seamlessly integrated with backend data processes. This collaboration will require you to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, translating technical requirements into actionable tasks.
Monitoring and improving the performance of databases and data pipelines will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will write and execute tests to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the systems you build, actively participating in code reviews to uphold quality standards.
As part of a you-build-it-you-run-it culture, you will also support the pipelines in production, including participating in an on-call rotation. This aspect of the role emphasizes the importance of ownership and accountability in maintaining the systems you develop.

At LaunchDarkly, you will be part of a dynamic team that values innovation and collaboration. We offer a flexible remote work environment, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life effectively. Our culture encourages continuous learning and growth, providing opportunities for you to expand your skills and advance your career.
You will have the chance to work with state-of-the-art technologies and contribute to projects that have a significant impact on our customers and the industry. We believe in empowering our employees to take ownership of their work and make meaningful contributions to our mission.
Join us at LaunchDarkly, where you can help shape the future of software delivery and control. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your unique perspective and skills could be just what we need.
