You'll work with advanced technologies like generative AI and reinforcement learning. This role requires proven leadership skills and a strong technical background in autonomous driving technology.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience — your educational background has equipped you with a deep understanding of machine learning and its applications in real-world scenarios. Proven leadership skills are essential as you will be responsible for executing large, complex technical initiatives and managing a team of engineers.

You are passionate about Level 4 autonomous driving technology and excited by the intellectual challenges it presents — your enthusiasm for innovation drives you to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field. You have experience in defining and executing motion planning and prediction projects that enhance the capabilities of self-driving vehicles.

Your technical expertise includes designing and implementing behavior models that leverage the latest advancements in machine learning, generative AI, and reinforcement learning — you are adept at productionizing and deploying solutions onto autonomous vehicle fleets. Collaboration is key for you; you enjoy working with perception, simulation, data platform, and integration teams to validate and enhance product performance on the road.

You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively convey strategies, progress, and challenges to executive leadership — your ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is a significant asset. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to creating a positive social impact through your work.

Desirable

Experience in the autonomous driving industry or related fields is a plus — familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in this space will help you hit the ground running. You are also open to mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of continuous learning within your team.

What you'll do

As the Principal Engineer on the Behaviors team, you will define and execute projects that improve the self-driving vehicles' capability to navigate complex traffic scenarios safely, comfortably, and legally. You will lead, manage, and grow a team of engineers, ensuring that they have the resources and support needed to succeed.

Your role will involve designing and leading the implementation of behavior models that utilize cutting-edge machine learning techniques — you will be at the forefront of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in autonomous driving. You will also be responsible for productionizing and deploying these solutions onto our autonomous vehicle fleets, ensuring they perform optimally in real-world conditions.

Collaboration is a significant part of your day-to-day activities; you will work closely with perception, simulation, data platform, and integration teams to validate and enhance the on-road performance of your products. You will communicate strategies, progress, and challenges to executive leadership, ensuring alignment and transparency across the organization.
