Backend Engineer • Mid-Level

Who you are

You have an IT degree and at least 2 years of experience in agile backend roles, particularly with Java and Spring Boot. Your solid experience with REST APIs and microservices allows you to design and maintain robust services that support business operations. You are comfortable using Git for version control and have a good understanding of software architecture and design patterns. You thrive in collaborative environments and are service-minded, always looking to improve internal processes through technology. Fluent in English, you are based in Munich and ready to contribute to an international tech organization.

Desirable

While not mandatory, experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or AWS CDK is a plus. Familiarity with DevOps practices and infrastructure automation will enhance your contributions. If you have frontend experience with React or Angular, or knowledge of Python or Kotlin, it would be beneficial. Experience with AI-assisted coding tools like GitHub Copilot is also appreciated.

What you'll do

In this role, you will join a small, agile team of developers to design, build, and maintain internal services that underpin Netlight’s operations. You will develop and evolve business-critical services, microservices, and REST APIs that thousands of colleagues rely on daily. Your work will involve creating integrations and automations that streamline and digitalize internal processes, ensuring that the services you build have an immediate impact across the organization. You will ship on AWS using Infrastructure as Code, contributing to scalable and modern delivery practices. Your responsibilities will include collaborating closely with your team to ensure high-quality code through automated testing and monitoring, using tools like JUnit and CloudWatch. You will also participate in knowledge sharing and continuous development within the team, fostering a culture of learning and improvement.
