You have 5+ years of experience in data science, with a strong background in building and deploying machine learning models that drive business impact. You are proficient in Python and SQL, and you understand how to leverage data to enhance user experiences across various platforms. Your experience includes working with modern AI stacks and cloud services, particularly AWS, to implement scalable solutions.

You possess a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms and data analysis techniques, enabling you to tackle complex business problems effectively. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure that data-driven insights are actionable and impactful.

What you'll do

As a Senior Data Scientist at OfferUp, you will lead the development of marketplace intelligence solutions that enhance user engagement and safety. You will optimize search ranking algorithms and recommendation engines, ensuring that users receive personalized experiences that meet their needs. Your role will also involve pioneering fraud detection systems and integrating generative AI features into our platform.

You will work closely with the data engineering team to build robust data pipelines and ensure data quality for analysis. Your insights will inform strategic decisions across various departments, including Search & Discovery, Trust & Safety, and Advertising. You will have the opportunity to influence the technical strategy of the data team and drive results that have a company-wide impact.
