Who you are

You have a strong background in data science with a focus on anti-fraud and abuse systems — your experience includes designing and implementing detection techniques that effectively mitigate misuse. You are proficient in Python and SQL, enabling you to analyze data and build robust systems that protect platforms from abuse. You understand the importance of balancing fraud loss, implementation costs, and customer experience, ensuring that your solutions are both effective and user-friendly.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams including finance, security, product, and trust & safety operations — your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly helps you drive initiatives that protect users and enhance product integrity. You are proactive in identifying new types of misuse and are excited about the challenge of staying ahead of potential threats in a rapidly evolving landscape.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for discovering and mitigating new types of misuse on OpenAI's platforms — you will design and build systems that detect and remediate fraud, ensuring that our powerful tools are used responsibly. You will collaborate with various teams to develop holistic strategies that combat abuse, leveraging your data science expertise to inform decision-making and improve detection processes.

You will analyze data to identify patterns of misuse and develop models that enhance our detection capabilities — your work will directly contribute to the safety and integrity of OpenAI's products, allowing customers to build their businesses on a secure foundation. You will also be involved in scaling our detection techniques and processes, ensuring that they remain effective as our technology and user base grow.
