You are comfortable working closely with customer teams, understanding their needs, and guiding them through the adoption of new technologies. Your experience with containerization tools such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes allows you to streamline deployment processes effectively.

You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Research, and Security. You thrive in hybrid work environments and are adaptable to changing project requirements. Your ability to measure success through production adoption and feedback loops helps you refine product roadmaps and enhance customer experiences. You are proactive in identifying and removing blockers to ensure timely delivery of projects.

What you'll do

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at OpenAI, you will own the technical delivery of multiple deployments, working directly with strategic customers to implement frontier models in production. You will be responsible for scoping work, sequencing delivery, and making trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality. Your role will involve embedding closely with customer teams to understand their specific needs and guide them in adopting the solutions you build. You will contribute directly to the codebase when necessary, ensuring clarity and progress in the development process.

You will also codify working patterns into tools and playbooks that can be utilized by others in the organization, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Your insights and field feedback will be invaluable in helping the Research and Product teams understand where models can be enhanced or adjusted based on real-world usage. This role requires travel up to 50%, allowing you to engage with customers on-site and strengthen partnerships.
