Who you are

You are pursuing a PhD in a quantitative field and have a strong foundation in statistical models and machine learning — your academic background has equipped you with the analytical skills necessary to tackle complex problems in trading. You are proficient in Python and have experience with big data technologies, which will enable you to analyze high-frequency trading strategies effectively. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to learn from seasoned researchers while contributing to impactful projects.

Desirable

Experience with financial instruments or trading algorithms is a plus, as is familiarity with stochastic modeling. You are curious about market dynamics and have a keen interest in how quantitative research can drive trading strategies. Your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly will help you work effectively with a diverse team of mathematicians, scientists, and technologists.

What you'll do

As a Quantitative Research Intern, you will engage in a research project that has real-world implications for Optiver's trading strategies. You will work closely with experienced researchers to develop and enhance models that predict market movements. Your responsibilities will include using statistical models and machine learning techniques to create trading algorithms, as well as leveraging big data technologies to analyze market microstructure and identify trading opportunities. You will also build stochastic models to determine the fair value of financial derivatives, ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of pricing engines and libraries.
