Who you are

You have a strong background in import/export operations and customs compliance, with experience managing end-to-end processes for international shipments. Your attention to detail ensures that all documentation, including commercial invoices and packing lists, is accurate and compliant with U.S. and international regulations. You are adept at liaising with customs brokers and government agencies, ensuring smooth operations and timely resolutions to any shipping exceptions.

You possess a solid understanding of import/export laws and regulations, including HTS, EAR, and ITAR, and you are committed to maintaining compliance in all company operations. Your ability to monitor and interpret complex regulatory information allows you to provide valuable guidance to internal teams regarding shipping requirements and documentation preparation.

You are proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvement within import/export and customs workflows, and you have a track record of implementing changes that enhance efficiency and accuracy. Your strong initiative and adaptability enable you to thrive in a dynamic environment, and you are always looking for ways to optimize operations.

As a subject matter expert in international trade and customs compliance, you are comfortable delivering training and support to cross-functional teams. Your excellent communication skills allow you to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, including international freight forwarders and regulatory agencies.

Desirable

Relevant certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist or CUSECO are a plus, but not required. Experience with trade compliance or ERP systems will further enhance your ability to succeed in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will oversee the import/export operations, managing the entire process from documentation preparation to freight booking and exception resolution. You will prepare and review customs documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, acting as the primary contact for customs brokers and logistics partners.

You will monitor and interpret import/export laws and regulations, ensuring that the company meets all trade compliance requirements. Your responsibilities will include maintaining proper transaction records and supporting periodic audits of import/export files and customs entries.

You will work closely with internal teams to provide guidance on shipping requirements and document preparation, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned. Your role will also involve investigating and resolving discrepancies, supporting corrective and preventive actions as needed.

You will identify, recommend, and implement improvements in workflows to increase efficiency and compliance, making a significant impact on the company's operations. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering training and support for cross-functional collaboration, helping to foster a culture of compliance and operational excellence.
