Site Reliability Engineer • Senior

Who you are

You have 7 to 11 years of experience in site reliability engineering, particularly with big data ecosystems. Your background includes managing distributed systems and ensuring their reliability and scalability. You are proficient in cloud technologies, especially AWS, and have a strong understanding of containerization with Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes.

Your expertise in Linux systems allows you to troubleshoot and optimize performance effectively. You are skilled in scripting and automation, particularly with Python, which you use to streamline operations and improve system reliability. You have experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, enabling you to manage and provision infrastructure efficiently.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with development teams to enhance system performance and reliability. You have a proactive approach to identifying potential issues and implementing solutions before they impact users. Your strong analytical skills help you to monitor system performance and make data-driven decisions.

Desirable

Experience with monitoring tools and practices, such as Prometheus or Grafana, is a plus. Familiarity with big data technologies like Apache Spark or Hadoop would be beneficial. You are also open to learning new technologies and adapting to evolving industry standards.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining PhonePe's complex big data ecosystems. You will ensure the reliability and scalability of systems that handle millions of transactions daily. Your work will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that enhance system performance.

You will monitor system health and performance, using your expertise to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise. Your role will also include automating processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. You will participate in incident management and post-mortem analysis to continuously improve system reliability.

Additionally, you will contribute to the development of best practices for site reliability engineering within the organization. You will mentor junior engineers and share your knowledge to foster a culture of learning and improvement.
