Overview

Point72 is hiring a Fundamental Data Researcher to normalize and analyze fundamental data across public companies. You'll work with real-time data and collaborate with the research team to make predictions. This position requires 2+ years of experience in a related role.

Job Description

Who you are

You have an undergraduate degree or higher in Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline, and you bring at least 2 years of experience as an accountant, financial data analyst, or industry analyst. Your analytical skills are complemented by a strong attention to detail, making you tenacious and organized in your approach to data research. You possess strong communication skills and thrive in collaborative environments, working effectively as part of a team.

You are familiar with fundamental data analysis, having designed processes for normalizing and sanitizing data from sources like 10Q and 10K reports. Your coursework in Statistics and Econometrics, along with your skills in empirical data analysis, have equipped you to detect anomalies and outliers in data sets. While a CPA or CFA is a plus, your programming skills, particularly in Python, enhance your ability to conduct independent research and track real-time data.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and own processes for normalizing and sanitizing fundamental data across a wide universe of public companies. You will track real-time data related to corporate bond issuances, redemptions, and other relevant corporate events, ensuring that your research is both accurate and timely. Collaborating closely with the research team, you will conduct deep dive case studies and make predictions regarding capital structure changes and corporate event outcomes.

Your proactive approach will involve searching for alternative, unstructured data sets that may hold signal potential for corporate credit. You will prioritize your research efforts based on the relevance and impact of the data you uncover, contributing to the overall success of the Cubist portfolio management team. Your ability to communicate findings clearly will be essential as you share insights with your colleagues and help shape investment strategies.

What we offer

At Point72, you will be part of a dynamic team that values collaboration and innovation. We offer competitive compensation and opportunities for professional growth within the firm. You will have access to resources that support your development as a data researcher, including mentorship from experienced professionals in the field. Join us in our mission to excel in systematic trading of US credit markets and make a meaningful impact in the financial industry.
