Who you are

You have a strong background in materials engineering, particularly in additive manufacturing processes like Powder Bed Fusion. With a minimum of 5 years of experience, you understand the complexities of materials selection and characterization, and you are adept at developing and inspecting materials for aerospace applications. Your problem-solving skills are top-notch, and you thrive in environments where innovation is key. You are comfortable collaborating across teams and enjoy the challenge of working on projects that push the boundaries of technology.

You possess a deep understanding of non-destructive evaluation techniques and their application in ensuring the integrity of materials used in aerospace. Your experience includes working with advanced composites and welding processes, and you are familiar with the latest trends and technologies in the field. You are a proactive communicator, able to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you are committed to fostering a culture of safety and quality in your work.

Desirable

Experience with rocket propulsion systems or aerospace manufacturing is a plus. Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance in aerospace is also beneficial. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies, and you are excited about the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be a key member of the Materials and NDE team, responsible for developing and characterizing materials that will be used in the Terran R rocket. You will lead efforts in selecting appropriate materials for various components, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards. Your work will involve conducting experiments and analyses to validate material properties and performance under different conditions.

You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate materials into the design and manufacturing processes. This includes providing guidance on material selection, processing techniques, and inspection methods. You will also be involved in troubleshooting material-related issues that arise during production, working to find effective solutions that maintain project timelines.

Your role will require you to stay current with advancements in materials science and additive manufacturing technologies. You will participate in cross-functional meetings to share insights and contribute to the overall strategy for materials development. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and interns, helping to cultivate their skills and knowledge in materials engineering.
