Job Description
Who you are
You have a PhD or master's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, financial engineering, or a related field — your academic background equips you with the analytical skills necessary for quantitative research in trading and execution. With a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, you have a proven track record of applying quantitative methods to enhance trading strategies and execution processes.
Your expertise in statistical analysis and algorithm development allows you to effectively estimate statistical significance in execution performance across various algorithms and parameters. You are comfortable working with large datasets and have experience in capturing and normalizing data for rigorous measurement and monitoring of systematic execution.
You possess strong programming skills in Python and SQL, which you use to develop analytics and tools that support trading decisions. Your familiarity with R enhances your ability to conduct complex analyses and simulations, making you a valuable asset to the team.
Collaboration is key in your work — you thrive in environments where you can partner with portfolio managers, traders, technologists, and operations specialists to drive improvements in execution processes. Your communication skills enable you to convey complex quantitative concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Desirable
Experience with electronic trading systems and market microstructure is a plus, as it allows you to bring additional insights into trading costs and execution strategies. Familiarity with academic research relevant to trading costs and micro-pricing will further enhance your contributions to the team.
What you'll do
As a Senior Quantitative Researcher, you will integrate execution research into trading decisions, focusing on reducing trading costs through rigorous measurement, research, and experimentation. You will establish a framework to capture and normalize all datasets necessary for measuring and monitoring systematic execution, ensuring that the firm’s execution processes are data-driven and efficient.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining strategy routing tables to probabilistically direct flow across brokers and algorithms, as well as developing and calibrating market impact models for real-time systems and simulations. You will evaluate academic research relevant to trading costs, market microstructure, and micro-pricing, providing insights that inform the development of electronic trading algorithms.
You will collaborate closely with the development team to provide expertise on optimal order scheduling, routing, slicing, and venue selection. Your role will involve continuous experimentation and analysis to refine execution strategies and improve overall trading performance.
What we offer
At Schonfeld, you will be part of a dynamic team committed to enhancing execution processes through innovative quantitative methods. We offer a competitive salary range of $175,000 to $250,000, along with performance bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package. You will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where your contributions directly impact the firm's trading strategies and execution efficiency.
We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your unique perspective and skills could be the perfect fit for our team.
