Who you are

You are a junior, senior, or MS-level college student with a strong foundation in embedded software or firmware development. You have experience working with device-level software and are eager to apply your skills in a real-world setting. Your background includes programming in C and C++, and you are familiar with embedded Linux and RTOS environments. You thrive in collaborative settings and are excited to contribute to innovative projects in the drone industry.

You possess a keen interest in autonomous systems and understand the importance of reliable embedded firmware in bridging the gap between algorithms and hardware. Your problem-solving skills enable you to tackle challenges effectively, and you are motivated to learn from experienced engineers in a fast-paced environment. You are adaptable and open to feedback, which will help you grow during your internship.

Desirable

Experience with microcontroller programming, particularly with STM32 products, is a plus. Familiarity with integrating software for embedded Linux and Android platforms will enhance your contributions to the team. If you have worked on projects involving hardware design or electronics, that experience will be beneficial as well.

What you'll do

As an Embedded Software Engineer Intern at Skydio, you will work closely with our engineering team to develop and enhance the functionality of our autonomous drones. You will write and test embedded firmware that acts as the brain of our products, ensuring seamless integration between software and hardware components. Your role will involve collaborating with both hardware and software teams to create innovative solutions that improve our drone technology.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to various subsystems, writing bare metal and RTOS microcontroller code, and maintaining associated Linux kernels.
