You have extensive experience in PCB layout engineering, with a strong background in executing complex layouts and a passion for mentoring others. You thrive in a hybrid role where you can both lead by example and guide a small team of layout engineers, ensuring they grow as technical contributors. Your expertise in design standards and best practices allows you to set the bar high for quality and manufacturability in PCB designs.
You are skilled in using tools like Altium Designer and Eagle, and you understand the intricacies of high-density placement, precision routing, and release to manufacturing. Your collaborative spirit enables you to work closely with electrical, mechanical, RF, and manufacturing engineers to resolve trade-offs and deliver robust designs that meet world-class performance standards.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the layout of Skydio's most complex PCBAs, taking ownership of the design process from outline definition to manufacturing release. You will mentor and guide a small team of PCB layout engineers, conducting design reviews and coaching them on best practices to enhance their skills and contributions. Establishing and maintaining design standards, libraries, and workflows will be a key part of your responsibilities, ensuring consistency and scalability across multiple product generations.
You will partner closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical and mechanical engineers, to navigate design challenges and optimize layouts for manufacturability. Your role will involve conducting thorough design reviews, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within your team. You will also be responsible for staying updated on industry trends and technologies to ensure that Skydio remains at the forefront of PCB design excellence.
