Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Senior DSP Engineer to develop advanced communication systems for the Starship avionics team. You'll work with RF sensors and collaborate with various engineering disciplines. This role requires expertise in system-level design and simulation.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in digital signal processing and a strong background in developing communication systems for aerospace applications. Your expertise includes system-level and link-level design, and you are comfortable working with RF/antenna, FPGA, and software engineers to create innovative solutions. You possess a deep understanding of floating-point and fixed-point models, and you have experience running simulations to validate system performance. Your collaborative nature allows you to effectively support FPGA designers with bit-accurate and cycle-accurate RTL verification, ensuring the success of your projects.

You thrive in fast-paced environments and are motivated by the challenge of contributing to groundbreaking technologies that will enable human life on Mars. You are detail-oriented and take ownership of the end-to-end results of your products, ensuring they meet the high standards set by SpaceX. You are passionate about space exploration and eager to be part of a team that is revolutionizing orbital flight and space travel.

Desirable

Experience with advanced RF communication systems and a background in aerospace engineering would be a plus. Familiarity with simulation tools and methodologies specific to DSP applications will enhance your candidacy. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn new technologies will help you succeed in this role.

What you'll do

As a Senior DSP Engineer on the Starship RF team, you will be responsible for designing and developing communication systems that enable new vehicle capabilities. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure that all aspects of the communication systems are integrated effectively. Your role will involve developing models and simulations to analyze and validate overall system performance, including modem performance, which is critical for the success of the Starship missions.

You will collaborate with RF/antenna engineers to design systems that meet the rigorous demands of space travel. Your contributions will directly impact the development of technologies that will take components from concept to orbit, to the Moon, and ultimately to Mars. You will also support FPGA designers by providing them with the necessary specifications and verification processes to ensure that the hardware meets the design requirements.

In this role, you will own the end-to-end results of your products, from initial design through to validation and deployment. You will be expected to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing updates on project progress and addressing any challenges that arise. Your ability to work collaboratively will be essential in achieving the ambitious goals set by SpaceX.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a world-class development team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and space exploration. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with the opportunity to work on some of the most advanced electronics ever flown in space. You will have the chance to make a significant impact on the future of humanity's exploration of the stars, and we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement. Join us in our mission to make life multi-planetary.
