Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer for the Starlink project to oversee the entire life-cycle of hardware enabling global connectivity. You'll work with RF devices, power electronics, and PCB layout in Redmond, WA.

Who you are

You have a strong background in electrical engineering with a focus on satellite systems, bringing at least 10 years of experience in designing and developing complex electronic systems. Your expertise spans high-speed digital communications, analog systems, and RF devices, allowing you to tackle challenges across various domains. You are proficient in PCB layout and have hands-on experience with power electronics, ensuring that your designs are not only innovative but also practical and manufacturable. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with mechanical, thermal, and software engineers to integrate systems seamlessly. Your problem-solving skills are top-notch, enabling you to troubleshoot hardware issues effectively and drive requirements for silicon development. You are passionate about space technology and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to a project that aims to connect users globally.

Desirable

Experience with satellite communication systems or broadband technologies would be a significant advantage. Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for satellite systems is also beneficial. You may have worked on projects involving system integration and testing, which would further enhance your candidacy. A background in project management or leading engineering teams is a plus, as it demonstrates your ability to guide projects from conception through to deployment.

What you'll do

As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer at SpaceX, you will take ownership of the hardware lifecycle for the Starlink project, ensuring that all components meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. You will lead the design and development of electronic systems, from initial concept through to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of electrical, mechanical, and software components. Your responsibilities will include system design, schematic capture, and overseeing PCB layout, ensuring that all designs adhere to best practices and industry standards. You will also be involved in hardware troubleshooting, working closely with the testing team to identify and resolve issues that arise during the development process.
