Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Senior Flight Reliability Engineer for the Starship program to manage and mitigate risks associated with flight operations. You'll collaborate with various teams to ensure technical readiness and safety during test operations. This role requires strong analytical skills and experience in risk management.

Who you are

You have a strong background in risk management and engineering, with experience in aerospace or a related field. You understand the complexities of flight operations and have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all aspects of a project are thoroughly evaluated for potential risks. Your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams is essential, as you will be coordinating with design, build, and operations teams to achieve the best outcomes during critical flight and test days.

You are proactive in identifying and documenting risks associated with the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles. Your analytical skills allow you to assess the impact of these risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. You thrive in high-pressure environments and are comfortable making decisions that affect the safety and success of flight operations.

Desirable

Experience with flight readiness reviews and technical reviews is a plus. Familiarity with vehicle state machine reviews and joint operations reviews will enhance your ability to contribute effectively to the team. A background in aerospace engineering or a related discipline will be beneficial in understanding the technical aspects of the role.

What you'll do

As a Senior Flight Reliability Engineer, you will take ownership of risk tracking for the Starship vehicle or its components. This includes managing risks throughout the testing and flight phases, ensuring that all potential issues are addressed before they impact operations. You will support technical reviews, providing valuable feedback to operations teams and helping to facilitate discussions that lead to informed decision-making.

You will organize and run flight readiness reviews, ensuring that all technical aspects are thoroughly evaluated before each flight. Your role will involve driving actions and findings to completion, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to mitigate risks and enhance safety. You will also coordinate real-time risk conversations during major test operations and flights, playing a critical role in maintaining situational awareness and ensuring that all teams are aligned on risk management strategies.
