Who you are
You have a strong background in supply chain management, particularly in negotiating strategic relationships with manufacturing vendors. Your experience includes driving cost efficiencies and enabling suppliers for success. You possess practical knowledge in vendor development and new product development, particularly for metallic raw materials in various alloys such as Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Nickel, Titanium, and Copper. You understand the manufacturing landscape and market dynamics, which allows you to effectively manage supplier relationships.
You are a proactive leader with a creative approach to problem-solving. Your persistence and motivation enable you to navigate complex supply chain challenges. You have a comprehensive understanding of the raw materials required for aerospace applications and are familiar with the forms these materials come in, including plate, sheet, coil, round bars, extrusions, and wires. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
Desirable
Experience in the aerospace industry or with high-volume production environments is a plus. Familiarity with advanced manufacturing techniques and materials science will enhance your ability to succeed in this role. You are comfortable working with cross-functional teams and have excellent communication skills to articulate supply chain strategies effectively.
What you'll do
In this role, you will manage the supply base supporting critical raw material commodities for SpaceX's flight and development programs. You will build and maintain strong relationships with raw material suppliers, ensuring they meet the demanding quality and delivery standards required for aerospace applications. Your responsibilities will include negotiating contracts, managing supplier performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and enhance supplier capabilities.
You will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to understand material requirements and ensure timely availability of materials for various projects, including Falcon, Dragon, Raptor, Starship, and Starlink. Your role will involve analyzing market trends and supplier capabilities to identify opportunities for strategic sourcing and risk mitigation.
You will also be responsible for developing and implementing supply chain strategies that align with SpaceX's ambitious goals. This includes conducting supplier audits, assessing compliance with quality standards, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the supply chain.
