Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Launch Engineer specializing in fluids for the Starship program. You'll analyze, design, and build systems that support critical rocket launches and testing. This role requires expertise in fluid dynamics and mechanical engineering.

Who you are

You have a strong background in mechanical engineering with a focus on fluid dynamics — your experience includes designing and analyzing fluid systems for high-pressure applications. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable taking ownership of projects from conception to execution. Your problem-solving skills are top-notch, allowing you to develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for aerospace engineering, particularly in the context of rocket launches and testing. You understand the importance of collaboration and communication in a multidisciplinary team, and you are eager to contribute to groundbreaking projects. You are adaptable and ready to pivot as project needs evolve, ensuring that you can meet the demands of a dynamic engineering environment.

Desirable

Experience with cryogenic systems or high-pressure gas systems would be a significant advantage. Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies can help streamline your contributions to the team. A background in aerospace engineering or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.

What you'll do

As a Launch Engineer focusing on fluids, you will analyze, design, and build systems that support critical rocket launches and testing. You will take ownership of projects, leading design reviews and justifying project decisions while coordinating the procurement of necessary equipment. Your role will involve designing modular hardware that can be manufactured at scale for future launch sites worldwide. You will apply your interdisciplinary engineering skills in system-level process design, detailed pressurized fluid and thermal analysis, and structural engineering. You will work closely with other engineers to ensure that the fluid systems meet the rigorous demands of rocket launches. Your contributions will directly impact the success of SpaceX's ambitious goals, including enabling human life on Mars.
