Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Launch Operations Engineer to oversee the operational process of rocket launches at Starbase, TX. You'll develop test requirements, conduct tests, and analyze data to ensure vehicle quality. This role requires strong engineering support skills and experience in automation.

Who you are

You have a background in engineering with a focus on launch operations, and you thrive in high-pressure environments where precision is critical. Your experience includes developing test requirements and integrating complex systems, ensuring that every detail is accounted for before a launch. You are skilled in data analysis, allowing you to evaluate performance metrics and inform design processes effectively. You have a collaborative mindset, working closely with technicians and engineers to provide on-console support during critical launch events. Your ability to write and review control logic for automation systems is a key asset in this role, as is your familiarity with real-time data evaluation.

Experience with rocket hardware and launch systems is a plus, as is familiarity with fluid, structural, thermal, and electrical systems. What you'll do

As a Launch Operations Engineer at SpaceX, you will serve as an on-console flight controller during launch events, ensuring that all systems operate smoothly and safely. You will test integrated rocket hardware to determine its suitability for flight, providing critical insights that inform future designs and production processes. Your role will involve writing and reviewing control logic for test and launch systems, ensuring that automation processes are efficient and reliable. You will conduct real-time and post-operation data reviews to evaluate the performance of launch and test articles, analyzing software, fluid, structural, thermal, and electrical systems to confirm their readiness for flight.

You will collaborate with technicians during daily test and launch stand operations, providing engineering support that is essential for successful launches. Your responsibilities will also include developing launch plans and integrating on-pad flight/test articles, ensuring that every aspect of the launch process is meticulously planned and executed. You will be a key player in maintaining the high launch cadence that SpaceX is known for, pushing hardware to its limits in flight-like conditions to ensure quality and reliability.
