Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer - Supplier Development to enhance production flow for Starlink satellites. You'll collaborate with engineering and suppliers to improve quality and efficiency. This role requires expertise in mechanical engineering and supplier management.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a background in mechanical engineering with experience in supplier development and manufacturing processes — you've successfully collaborated with cross-functional teams to improve production metrics and quality standards. Your understanding of supply chain strategies allows you to effectively assess and enhance supplier capabilities.

You possess strong analytical skills and are adept at root cause analysis — you thrive in environments where problem-solving is key to overcoming supplier quality issues. Your ability to communicate technical requirements clearly ensures alignment between engineering, procurement, and production teams.

You are detail-oriented and have a passion for quality assurance — your experience in defining technical and quality requirements for new product introductions (NPI) has equipped you with the skills to drive improvements in mechanical hardware used in satellite systems.

Desirable

Experience with satellite manufacturing or aerospace engineering is a plus — familiarity with industry standards and practices will help you navigate the complexities of the role. Knowledge of metrology and assembly processes will further enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

In this role, you will work closely with internal engineering and manufacturing departments to develop and implement effective supply chain strategies — your focus will be on improving quality, cost, delivery, and capacity metrics for mechanical hardware. You will collaborate with design, materials, and manufacturing engineers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the design intent for piece parts and assemblies.

You will support the procurement team by strategically sourcing parts that align with supplier competencies — this involves reviewing and assessing supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems to ensure they meet SpaceX's high standards. You will create and define supplier technical and quality requirements based on customer and program expectations for both NPI and production phases.

As a key player in resolving supplier quality issues, you will lead root cause analysis efforts and act as a liaison between purchasing, engineering, and production teams — your ability to communicate effectively will be crucial in driving resolutions and ensuring that production goals are met.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team focused on enabling human life on Mars — your work will directly contribute to the development of groundbreaking technologies in the aerospace industry. We offer competitive compensation and opportunities for professional growth within a dynamic and innovative environment.

Join us in our quest to revolutionize space exploration and make a lasting impact on humanity's future among the stars.
