Job Description

Who you are

You are a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in designing and developing large-scale mechanisms and systems. You have experience working on multidisciplinary projects and are comfortable with complex engineering analyses and calculations. Your expertise includes working with electromechanical and fluid power actuation systems, which are crucial for the rapid development of launch infrastructure.

You possess proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, enabling you to create detailed designs and specifications for various mechanical components. You have a keen understanding of project development phases, from conceptual feasibility studies to construction completion, ensuring that all aspects of the project are meticulously planned and executed.

What you'll do

In this role, you will own mechanical engineering work packages for the production site, focusing on the design and development of critical infrastructure elements such as elevators, overhead cranes, and large mechanisms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all designs meet the necessary specifications and standards.

You will perform standard and complex engineering analyses, utilizing established methodologies and principles to inform your designs. Your responsibilities will include creating mechanism designs that support the rapid build and refurbishment of Starship vehicles, contributing to SpaceX's ambitious goals of enabling human life on Mars.

You will also be involved in the construction phase, working closely with contractors and other engineers to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. Your role will require you to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, providing updates on project progress and addressing any challenges that arise during the development process.
