SpaceX is seeking a Supplier Industrialization Engineer for Mechanical Systems to enhance supplier development and production flow for Starshield. You'll collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams, focusing on mechanical hardware quality and efficiency. This role requires expertise in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a background in mechanical engineering with experience in supplier development and industrialization processes — you understand the intricacies of mechanical hardware and how to improve quality, cost, delivery, and capacity metrics. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with design, materials, and manufacturing engineers to gain a comprehensive understanding of piece parts and assembly processes.

Your technical skills include proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, allowing you to create and modify designs effectively — you have a keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring that mechanical systems meet the highest standards of quality and performance. You are driven by a passion for innovation and a desire to contribute to groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of technology.

You possess strong problem-solving abilities and can think creatively to develop effective supply chain strategies — you are comfortable navigating complex challenges and are adept at communicating with both internal teams and external suppliers. Your collaborative spirit enables you to foster strong relationships that facilitate successful project outcomes.

Desirable

Experience in the aerospace or defense industry would be a plus, as would familiarity with satellite systems and ground station technologies — you are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies that enhance production processes.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for improving the quality and efficiency of mechanical hardware used in the Starshield satellite and ground station systems — you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies that optimize supplier performance and production flow. Your work will directly impact the success of SpaceX's mission to support national security efforts through advanced satellite technology.

You will engage with suppliers from initial concept development through to full-scale production, ensuring that all components meet stringent quality standards — you will analyze performance metrics and identify areas for improvement, driving initiatives that enhance supplier capabilities and reduce costs.

Your role will involve regular communication with internal engineering and manufacturing departments, as well as direct interaction with suppliers — you will facilitate discussions that align production goals with supplier capabilities, ensuring that all parties are working towards common objectives.

You will also participate in design reviews and provide feedback on mechanical systems, leveraging your expertise to influence design decisions that enhance manufacturability and reliability — your insights will be invaluable in shaping the future of SpaceX's satellite technology.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to advancing human exploration of space — you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies that have a profound impact on the future of humanity.
