Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Mechanical Engineer for the Starship project at Starbase, TX. You'll design and build flight hardware, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions. This role requires expertise in CAD modeling and structural analysis.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with hands-on experience in designing and building flight hardware. Your expertise includes developing design concepts from scratch and sizing vehicle structures based on flight loads. You are comfortable collaborating with peers from different vehicle systems to create designs that balance mass, cost, and capability.

You possess proficiency in CAD software, particularly NX, and have experience creating detailed designs and generating CAD models for components and assemblies. Your skills in finite element analysis allow you to assess designs in detail and ensure they meet the rigorous demands of aerospace applications. You are eager to take ownership of hardware and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

What you'll do

As a Mechanical Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for designing and building critical flight hardware for the Starship project. You will develop design concepts from a clean sheet, ensuring that your designs meet the necessary specifications for performance and safety. Collaborating with various teams, you will create detailed designs and generate CAD models in NX, focusing on components, assemblies, and vehicle integration.

You will build finite element models to analyze your designs, proving that they meet the vehicle's needs. Your role will require you to make real-time decisions and solve complex problems on the fly, ensuring that the hardware you design is not only functional but also manufacturable.
