Who you are
You are a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in design for manufacturability and production efficiency. You have experience creating original CAD models and prints for flight and tooling components, and you are skilled in performing hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to develop and optimize designs. You thrive in challenging environments and are excited about contributing to groundbreaking projects that aim to make humanity multiplanetary.
You possess excellent problem-solving skills and can lead complex trade studies to optimize for cost, schedule, safety, and performance. Your ability to develop project plans, budgets, and cost/benefit analyses will be crucial in implementing innovative solutions. You are also adept at sourcing and advising vendors from a technical perspective, ensuring that all mechanical systems are functioning optimally.
What you'll do
As a Mechanical Engineer at SpaceX, you will support the team responsible for building and upgrading facilities and ground support equipment (GSE) to develop a high-volume rocket factory. You will execute design changes that enhance production efficiency and create original CAD models for various components. Your role will involve performing hand calculations and FEA to assess and optimize designs, ensuring that they meet the rigorous standards required for aerospace applications.
You will lead the on-site design engineering contact for the efficient build of parts and assemblies, collaborating closely with other engineers and teams to troubleshoot mechanical systems. Your responsibilities will also include negotiating complex trade studies to balance cost, schedule, safety, and performance considerations. You will develop project plans and budgets, providing detailed cost/benefit analyses to guide decision-making processes.
