Desirable

Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus, as it will help you visualize and understand the structures you will be working on. Familiarity with safety protocols and hazardous materials handling will also be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a Structures Technician (Composites) at SpaceX, you will be responsible for trimming and finishing composite and metallic assemblies. You will assemble structures by setting up, bonding, and applying fasteners according to detailed drawings and tooling instructions. Your role will involve surface preparation using grit blasting, hand abrading, and power abrasion techniques to ensure optimal bonding surfaces.

You will repair composite defects and align parts securely using clecos or tooling/hand clamps. Checking for good edge margins and alignment will be crucial in your daily tasks. You will select appropriate drill bits, reamers, and countersinking tools for pilot and full-size holes, ensuring that all drilling and countersinking is performed accurately and in the correct sequence.

Your responsibilities will also include disassembling parts and deburring holes to prepare for fastener installation. You will load and unload ovens to bond detail parts to assemblies and handle hazardous materials in an approved manner. Additionally, you will determine and obtain the correct type and size of fasteners for various applications, cold work holes to prepare for close tolerance fastener installation, and install bushings into housings using an arbor press and/or hydraulic puller.
