Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in surface mount technology (SMT) and experience managing complex automated equipment — your expertise allows you to optimize processes and ensure high-quality production. You are skilled in designing custom fixtures for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) to enhance efficiency and workflow. Your ability to train technicians and troubleshoot complex machines makes you a valuable asset to any production team.
You thrive in fast-paced environments and are adept at executing new product introduction builds across various work centers — your attention to detail ensures that design integrity and product quality are maintained throughout the production process. You are proactive in identifying continuous improvement opportunities for yield, performance, and cost, and you have a knack for resolving production issues swiftly while adhering to delivery timelines.
What you'll do
As an SMT Specialist at SpaceX, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the equipment used in avionics production — your role will involve programming, loading, and operating automated equipment to meet the demands of Starlink production rates. You will assist with the initial setup of PCBA lines and handle facility requests, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally.
You will also play a key role in training new technicians, equipping them with the skills needed to operate and troubleshoot complex machines effectively. Your expertise will be crucial in triaging non-conforming products and driving resolutions and preventative actions to maintain production quality. You will perform process development and validation on new models, working under aggressive timelines to ensure successful product transitions.
In addition, you will define maintenance schedules and support activities to keep equipment running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include optimizing and configuring processes for building surface mount electronics assemblies, as well as conducting design of experiments (DOE) to enhance SMT process yield. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and quality of SpaceX's production capabilities.
What we offer
At SpaceX, you will be part of a world-class avionics production team, working alongside highly motivated engineers who share your passion for innovation and excellence. We offer a dynamic work environment where your contributions will help shape the future of space exploration.
