Job Description
Who you are
You are a motivated and proactive engineer with a strong background in ASIC design and silicon engineering. With at least 5 years of experience, you have a deep understanding of the design, development, and testing of ASICs and FPGAs. You thrive in cross-disciplinary teams and are intellectually curious about the technologies that enable connectivity in challenging environments. Your experience includes working on projects that require innovative solutions and a commitment to excellence.
You possess a solid foundation in digital design principles and have hands-on experience with ASIC implementation. You are familiar with the tools and methodologies used in the design and verification of complex silicon systems. Your ability to collaborate effectively with firmware, systems, and architecture teams allows you to contribute to the successful deployment of advanced technologies.
Desirable
Experience with satellite communication systems or broadband technologies is a plus. Familiarity with design for test (DFT) methodologies and low-power design techniques will set you apart. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are eager to tackle the challenges of developing cutting-edge solutions for space applications.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing next-generation ASICs and FPGAs that will be deployed in SpaceX's satellite systems and ground infrastructures. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define specifications and ensure that the designs meet performance, power, and area requirements. Your work will directly impact the functionality and reliability of the Starlink system, which is revolutionizing global internet access.
You will lead the design process from concept through implementation, conducting simulations and validations to ensure that the designs perform as intended. Your expertise will guide the team in troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise during the development cycle. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of design methodologies and tools used within the team.
As a Principal Engineer, you will mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team. You will foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, encouraging team members to share ideas and best practices. Your contributions will help SpaceX achieve its mission of enabling human life on Mars by providing reliable connectivity solutions.
