Who you are
You are a self-directed engineer with a strong background in CAD, structural design, and fluid systems — your experience includes hardware ownership and managing large, multi-team initiatives. You possess exceptional communication skills, allowing you to effectively collaborate across teams and report risks and gaps to leadership. Your track record demonstrates your ability to drive corrective actions on deficiencies and uphold best practices in design, development, and production.
You have experience working with rocket engines in both development and production environments, which gives you a unique perspective on the challenges and requirements of this field. Your understanding of design documentation, including DCRs, PDRs, and CDRs, is comprehensive, and you are adept at maintaining and improving these documents to ensure clarity and compliance across the department.
What you'll do
In this role, you will own the definition, enforcement, and validation of engine design criteria for the Raptor engine systems. You will manage requirements and ensure they cascade effectively to subsystems, verifying they are met through rigorous testing and analysis. Your responsibilities will include tracking the overall health of design criteria for the engine and leading cross-team efforts to resolve issues that benefit the entire program. You will also be responsible for driving corrective actions on deficiencies and maintaining department-wide design documentation.
Your work will directly contribute to ensuring that the Raptor engine is ready to support SpaceX's mission of enabling human life on Mars. You will collaborate closely with various teams to uphold best practices in design, development, and production, ensuring that all aspects of the engine meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
