Job Description

Who you are

You have solid mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in building and testing propulsion hardware. You are capable of flexing across a variety of operations and can work autonomously to meet aggressive build schedules. You are detail-oriented and can read and interpret technical drawings, following detailed work instructions with precision. You possess the willingness and ability to learn new skills and adapt to the dynamic environment at SpaceX.

You are comfortable using precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers. You have experience operating cranes and heavy equipment, and you can perform blending, filing, and other mechanical tasks without instruction. Your ability to work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions ensures that you contribute effectively to the team.

Desirable

Experience with high-pressure test stands and a background in aerospace or mechanical engineering would be advantageous. Familiarity with propulsion systems and components, such as engines, tanks, and valves, is a plus. You are a team player who values collaboration and communication in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

As a Propulsion Technician at SpaceX, you will be responsible for building, testing, and reworking all propulsion hardware on the Crew Dragon and Cargo Dragon vehicles. This includes working with Draco engines, propulsion tanks, valves, regulators, and actuators. You will use precision tools to ensure that all components meet the required specifications and quality standards.

You will perform tests on propulsion systems, documenting results and making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal performance. Your role will involve collaborating with engineers and other technicians to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions effectively. You will also assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will participate in team meetings to discuss project progress and share insights. You will have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in the field and contribute to innovative projects that aim to advance space exploration.
