Who you are
You are a motivated and adaptable individual with a keen attention to detail and a strong desire to learn. As a Propulsion Technician, you will be responsible for mastering the intricacies of our evolving processes and effectively operating equipment to contribute to the development of world-changing launch vehicles and spacecraft. Your inquisitive nature drives you to propose improvements that enhance our manufacturing capabilities.
You possess a foundational understanding of mechanical engineering principles and are comfortable using precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, depth gauges, and calipers. Your ability to read and interpret technical drawings allows you to follow detailed work instructions accurately, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standards.
What you'll do
In this role, you will execute various manufacturing processes required to build engine subassemblies, including tack welding, fastener installation, precision cleaning, pressure testing, and general mechanical assembly. You will perform cryogenic and thermal part fitment and installations, ensuring that all components meet stringent specifications. Your responsibilities will also include fulfilling dynamic balance operations and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.
You will work closely with other technicians and engineers, collaborating to ensure that all assembly processes are executed safely and effectively. Your contributions will play a crucial role in the successful assembly of Raptor turbopumps, which are vital for our rocket propulsion systems. As you gain experience, you will have the opportunity to suggest improvements to our processes, helping SpaceX achieve its ambitious goals.
