Who you are

You have a strong background in materials engineering, particularly in metal casting processes, and possess the ability to solve complex challenges in a rapidly innovating environment. Your experience includes collaborating with supply chain and engineering teams to drive the development and production of advanced materials. You are comfortable interfacing with vendors and providing technical reviews related to material alloy and form selection.

You thrive in hands-on roles, having worked directly with hardware and are familiar with the intricacies of scaling and implementing casted components in production settings. Your problem-solving skills are complemented by your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned on project goals.

What you'll do

As a Senior Materials Engineer at SpaceX, you will take ownership of solving complex materials challenges associated with SX casting components for gas turbines. You will partner with supply chain, vendors, and engineering teams to accelerate the development and production processes. Your responsibilities will include developing, qualifying, and troubleshooting metal casting processes used in production, ensuring that they meet the high standards required for spaceflight applications.

You will provide technical reviews and advice for design efforts, focusing on material alloy and form selection, tooling, and material specifications. Collaborating closely with vendors, you will support the qualification and property development of castings and processes, driving the scaling and implementation of casted components to ground systems hardware. Your role will be crucial in ushering in the next era of revolutionary spaceflight, contributing to SpaceX's mission of enabling human life on Mars.
