You have a strong background in materials engineering, particularly in metal casting processes, and possess the ability to solve complex challenges in a rapidly innovating environment. Your experience includes collaborating with supply chain and engineering teams to drive the development and production of advanced materials. You are comfortable interfacing with vendors and providing technical reviews related to material alloy and form selection. You thrive in hands-on roles, working directly with hardware to ensure the successful implementation of materials in production. Your communication skills enable you to effectively partner with various teams to accelerate progress on projects. What you'll do
As a Senior Materials Engineer at SpaceX, you will take ownership of solving complex materials challenges associated with SX casting components for gas turbines. You will develop, qualify, and troubleshoot metal casting processes used in production, ensuring that they meet the high standards required for spaceflight applications. Your role will involve providing technical reviews and advising on design efforts, focusing on material alloy and form selection, tooling, and material specifications. You will collaborate closely with vendors to support the qualification and property development of castings and processes, driving the scaling and implementation of these components into ground systems hardware. Additionally, you will coordinate with ground engineering and vehicle teams to ensure that materials meet the necessary specifications for successful missions.
