Process Safety Engineer • Senior

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in process safety or chemical engineering and at least 5 years of experience with design and commissioning chemical systems. You thrive in collaborative environments and are driven to establish yourself as a subject matter expert in process safety. Your ability to evaluate complex chemical systems and recommend effective controls is key to your success in this role. You are adept at reading and interpreting P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and instrumentation diagrams, which allows you to effectively communicate with stakeholders and ensure safety compliance.

What you'll do

As a Senior Process Safety Engineer at SpaceX, you will conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) of advanced chemical systems, recommending controls to manage risks as low as reasonably practicable. You will evaluate equipment overpressure and overtemperature scenarios, as well as reaction hazards, ensuring that all safety measures are in place. Your responsibilities will include overseeing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), along with performing risk assessments and hazard analyses on complex process equipment. You will implement and field validate safety-critical instruments and interlocks during Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), ensuring that all safety protocols are adhered to. Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) program and ensuring compliance with all pillars of PSM.
