Who you are

You have a strong background in supplier development engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in managing electronic components and processes. Your expertise in PCBA processes and embedded systems allows you to effectively collaborate with design engineers to understand the intricacies of piece part and assembly design intent. You are skilled in assessing supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems, ensuring that the components meet the high standards required for aerospace applications.

You possess a deep understanding of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and have successfully implemented it with various suppliers to enable rate production. Your ability to create and define technical requirements for suppliers ensures that hardware manufacturing needs are met efficiently. You are proactive in identifying potential supply chain issues and have a track record of maintaining continuity of supply for critical electronic products.

Your communication skills are exceptional, allowing you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including procurement and engineering. You are detail-oriented and have a strong analytical mindset, which helps you make data-driven decisions when sourcing parts and managing supplier relationships. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about contributing to innovative projects that support national security efforts.

Desirable

Experience with aerospace or defense-related projects is a plus, as is familiarity with government contracting processes. You may also have knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques and materials that enhance the reliability of electronic systems in space applications.

What you'll do

As a Senior Supplier Development Engineer at SpaceX, you will own and manage the PCBA processes for the Starshield program, ensuring that all electronic products meet stringent quality and performance standards. You will collaborate closely with design engineers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the design intent behind each component, which will inform your approach to supplier management.

Your role will involve supporting the procurement team by strategically sourcing parts that align with supplier competencies. You will review and assess supplier manufacturing processes to ensure they can meet the demands of the Starshield program. By creating and defining supplier technical requirements, you will help facilitate smooth hardware manufacturing processes.

You will implement and monitor the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) with selected suppliers, enabling them to ramp up production while maintaining quality. Your ability to manage relationships with suppliers will be crucial in ensuring that the supply chain remains robust and responsive to the needs of the program.

In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will play a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain. By analyzing performance metrics and supplier feedback, you will identify areas for enhancement and work collaboratively with suppliers to implement solutions that improve efficiency and reliability.
