You have a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and over 5 years of professional experience using engineering simulation software such as MATLAB. Your expertise lies in thermal or fluid analysis, and you possess a strong understanding of spacecraft and launch vehicle systems. You are adept at making engineering decisions that improve vehicle performance and reliability, and you are committed to producing quality documentation to enhance efficiency.
You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to pursue performance and robustness improvements. Your experience has equipped you with the skills to automate workflows, reducing engineering investment in per-mission analysis. You are detail-oriented and understand the importance of operational simplicity, seeking to minimize the burden on other teams at SpaceX.
Desirable
A Masterβs degree in an engineering discipline is preferred, along with additional experience in thermal or fluid analysis. Your background in spacecraft systems will be a significant asset in this role, as you will be responsible for the thermal design of spacecraft and launch vehicles.
What you'll do
As a Senior Thermal Engineer on the Starship Thermal & Fluids analysis team, you will own the thermal design of spacecraft and launch vehicles from initial high-level analysis to validation of performance through ground tests and flight data. You will be responsible for making critical engineering decisions that enhance the performance and reliability of SpaceX's vehicles.
Your role will involve automating workflows to streamline analysis processes, allowing for more efficient engineering practices. You will pursue improvements in performance and robustness, ensuring that the designs meet the high standards required for space travel. Additionally, you will produce comprehensive documentation of your work to reduce miss-rates and improve overall efficiency.
You will collaborate closely with other engineering teams to ensure that thermal designs integrate seamlessly with other vehicle systems. Your insights will help shape the future of reusable transportation systems designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
