Who you are

You have a solid background in engineering, particularly in mechanical and fluid systems, with experience in designing automated manufacturing systems. Your knowledge of materials science and automation controls enables you to ensure successful delivery of processes to production. You are proficient in using CAD software to model industrial mechanical assemblies and fluid routing, and you have experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings and schematics.

You are detail-oriented and capable of specifying and down-selecting components such as sensors, valves, and pumps, providing detailed specifications for their purchase. As a technical point of contact for equipment and system vendors, you ensure that deliverables meet system requirements and deadlines. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable working in the field, driving system integration and activation schedules.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for engineering automated manufacturing systems for the Starship Heat Shield. You will utilize your in-depth knowledge of industrial mechanical and fluid systems to design and build novel systems required for the mass production of heat shield tiles. You will model industrial mechanical assemblies and fluid routing using CAD software, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary specifications for production.

You will create and release detailed manufacturing drawings, schematics, and work instructions to guide the build and fabrication processes. Additionally, you will specify and down-select components, ensuring that all parts meet the required standards for quality and performance. Acting as the technical point of contact for vendors, you will oversee the delivery of equipment and systems, ensuring they meet the project requirements and timelines.

Your role will also involve driving system integration and activation schedules, working closely with cross-functional teams to meet tight deadlines. You will have the opportunity to utilize your creativity and engineering skills to contribute to the exciting mission of SpaceX, enabling human life on Mars.
