SpaceX is hiring a Welder for Launch Operations to perform various welding processes on structural components. You'll work with FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW methods in Vandenberg, CA. This position requires 5+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience welding in a manufacturing environment, with proficiency in at least two of the following methods: flux cored arc welding (FCAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), or gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). You possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and have a strong understanding of welding procedures and materials. Your experience includes collaborating with lead welders to assess the proper weld procedures and ensuring quality in your work.
You are detail-oriented and capable of reviewing engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations effectively. You continuously seek to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes. Your ability to work cooperatively with others contributes to an efficient and effective work environment.
Desirable
Experience as a combo welder is preferred, showcasing your versatility and adaptability in various welding tasks. You are committed to maintaining high standards of safety and quality in all your welding projects.
What you'll do
As a Welder in Launch Operations at SpaceX, you will be responsible for welding using various processes on carbon and stainless steel structural shapes, tubing, and piping. You will cut, trim, fit, and fabricate weldments to precise dimensions, ensuring that all work meets the required specifications. Collaborating closely with the lead welder, you will assess the appropriate weld procedure, type of material, and rod size for each project.
You will review engineering drawings and specifications to plan your welding operations, especially when procedural information is unavailable. Your role will involve making continuous efforts to improve operations and streamline work processes, contributing to the overall efficiency of the team. You will also perform other related duties as assigned to ensure a productive work environment.
